D & C

D&C, also known as dilation and curettage, is a gynecological surgery that aims at removing tissue from the uterus to a number of uses including to complete a miscarriage, inducing an abortion surgically or to treat certain disorders including polyps or fibroids. It is done by dilating the cervix and abrading the endometrium using a curette; it maybe done under local or GA based on the circumstances. Recovery may include moderate cramping and some level of brightness, which can be treated within a few days. There are several risks associated with performing D&C; however, it is generally a safe procedure For any adverse effects such as Infection, heavy loss and bleeding, patients should consult their results with their practitioners and attend follow up as advised. Altogether, D&C can be an effective method of treating different diseases of the uterus.
